Lake Como

Lake Como tapestries

Most of our Lake Como tapestries are set in the gardens of the Villa d'Este which was built for a cardinal, then home to the upper nobility and is now a top class hotel. The 18th century gardens seen in our Italian tapestry wallhangings remain today with their formal terraces, statues and temples overlooking the lake. It is easy to imagine the scenes depicted in each tapestry. Lake Como has been a popular setting for recreation for centuries, renowned for its beautiful setting in the northern Italian mountains. There have been villas here since Roman times and it has remained a playground for aristocrats and the wealthy ever since. These lakeside mansions often had beautiful gardens in the sub-tropical mini-climate.

This is our selection of traditional Lake Como tapestries - 18th century Italian tapestry wallhangings. You will find modern scenes of Como Lake in the Contemporary Landscapes section.
