15th century Tournament

This 15th century Tournament tapestry is from "Une descente de tournoi à la fin du XVème siècle" by Jean-Paul Laurens woven at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins 1895-1899. Laurens (1838-1921) painted mostly in the French Academic style of the Third Republic but this 15th century tournament design is more stylised.
This is one of several detailsof this French tapestry, all woven in a fine quality wool and cotton weave and lined with has a rod pocket for ease of hanging.
