Fire, Apocalypse tapestry
The Fire Tapestry is a detail from The Apocalypse Tapestries which were commissioned by Louis I of Anjou in 1373. Woven by Nicolas Bataille they showed the Biblical end times of the Book of Revelation. The six sections within the original tapestries were nearly 20 foot high with a total length of 430 foot. They were divided into 100 tapestries but only 70 remain in varying sizes. They are magnificently displayed in a long hall adjoining the Chateau of Angers.
This tapestry is now woven in France by Jules Pansu in 95% cotton and is lined with a rod pocket for easy hanging. We enclose tapestry hanging suggestions with your order.
