Lady of Shalott tapestry
The stunning Lady of Shalott tapestry from the famous 1888 painting by John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) is based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem. The painting is now on display at the Tate Gallery, London. This Pre-Raphaelite tapestry is superbly woven in Belgium - it consists of 64% cotton, 19% acrylic, 9% wool and 8% polyester giving this tapestry a rich fullness of depth. We are so impressed by the quality of the weave as well as the image which is one of our favourites. It is lined, with a rod pocket - we enclose information about how to hang a tapestry with your order.
Here's a suggestion: hang a framed copy of the poem next to the tapestry.
"And down the river's dim expanse
Like some bold seer in a trance,
Seeing all his own mischance—
With glassy countenance
Did she look to Camelot.
And at the closing of the day
She loosed the chain, and down she lay;
The broad stream bore her far away,
The Lady of Shalott."
