Arearea - Pastime (Gaugin)

This Italian tapestry represents Gaugin's first trip to Tahiti where he was searching for inspiration from primitive ways of life.  His paintings were based on scenes he witnessed. This tapestry represents a close-up of two young ladies from his original painting which was exhibited in Paris in November 1893. Today this fine tapestry is woven in Italy and comes lined and with a sleeve for easy hanging.
