Promenade at Versailles
The Promenade at Versailles tapestry is inspired by The Tapestries of the Royal Households commissioned by Louis XIV. They were woven at the Royal Gobelins workshops in Paris. It bears the inscription "Tentures des Jardins Versailles M.DC.LXV" (ie 1665). This elegant tapestry has a wonderful fruits and flowers border with animals and birds in the corners. It is finely woven in France in wool and cotton (giving both rich fullness and fine detailing) and is lined and has a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging.
