Black Tree of Life tapestry
The Black Tree of Life tapestry was designed by William Morris though not woven until about 1910 at the Morris & Co workshops at Merton Abbey. The original Tree of Life tapestry had a dark blue coloured background but now it is also available from the French weaver in either this black background or a brown tapestry background.
These William Morris wall tapestries typfify those of the Arts & Crafts Movement in Britain at the time, drawing upon influences of the past. Today they are woven in France in 86% cotton, 8% polyamide and 6% polyester, in three sizes. All are fully lined, with a rod pocket – we supply instructions about hanging tapestries, and about their care.
