The Great Wave off Kanagawa

The Great Wave off Kanagawa

The Great Wave off Kanagawa tapestry, sometimes simply called The Wave, is from a Japanese print made from woodblocks. This was created in about 1830 by the artist Hokusai and is the first of a series entitled Thirty Six Views of Mount Fuji. This scene shows a rogue wave with Mount Fuji in the background. Several museums hold copies including the British Museum in London and the Metropolitam Museum of Art in New York.

This French tapestry from long-established weaver, Jules Pansu, who have impressively woven this so that some visual parts of the design are also slightly raised in relief - run your fingers over it to appreciate this. It is fully lined and has a rod pocket for hanging. We supply instructions for hanging tapestries with every order.
