Ghent Altarpiece tapestry
The Ghent Altarpiece tapestry is one of three panels reproduced as French tapestries. This one is the lower central panel, the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. This Flemish masterpiece was probably painted by Jan van Eyck in about 1430-32. We also have wall tapestries of two of its flanking wings on the altarpiece: The Knights of Christ and The Just Judges. To immerse yourself in the history of the original Ghent Altarpiece please click on our "Did You Know" section.
The tapestry is woven in Belgium in two sizes in 73% cotton and 14% acrylic - the larger size has a fine 2" antique gold border as seen in The Knights of Christ and The Just Judges. The Ghent Altarpiece tapestry is lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging - we supply hanging instructions for this with each order.
