Medieval tapestry and wall hangings

During the Middle Ages tapestries often depicted scenes from everyday life, and at times were used to illustrate stories, fables and myths. There are a number of recurring themes seen in work from the medieval times, including mythical beasts, a preoccupation with sense and perception, glorification of battles and the celebration of great families and dynasties. In addition the decorative elements of medieval wall tapestries often appear time and again, the most distinctive of these being Mille Fleurs.

We are in the early stages of adding hundreds of new European tapestries so suggest you visit our main wall tapestries website where the full collection is available at the same prices including a large number of medieval tapestries.
