Marquis de Louvois

This impressive tapestry was originally woven for François Michel Le Tellier (1641 - 1691), the Marquis de Louvois, French war minister under Louis XIV. It clearly shows his family crest and is adorned with an astonishing amount of detail. He was known as a reformer of the military, and was involved in France's greatest triumphs and cultural developments. He also shared the kings two great passions, war and building, both of which he not only excelled at but left a lasting impression well beyond his death. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for ease of hanging.
