Verdure portiere cascade (left)

This detailed tapestry is one of a pair and features a landscape scene with floral details and is inspired by the Verdure tapestries popular between the 16th and 18th centuries. In the foreground we see part of a small river with flowers and foliage. In the background a distant French town lost in the haze. These elements, combined with the tree in the middle ground, create a sense of depth, complimented by the use of rich tones, and combine to create a feeling of reality and vigor typical of Verdure's. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for ease of hanging.
