The Knight Templar

The Knight Templars were a religious/military order founded in 1120 to protect pilgrims to the Holy Land, active for about two hundred years. Originally called the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon. It became wealthy after being endorsed by the Church. As well as gaining military renown they were successful as engineers and bankers. This French tapestry wallhanging is lined with a rod pocket for easy hanging.
