Still life with a dog (ornate border)
This tapestry is best known as Still life with a dog and was woven around 1733 in St Petersburg, Russia. It depicts an ornate flower arrangement set against a decorative fountain. In the foreground we see a small urn with a parakeet perched, and a spaniel amongst the exotic fruits laid out on display with the warm colors and landscape backdrop creating a feeling of presence. The original is on display at the Armory Chamber in the Kremlin Museum. This tapestry is lined and has a tunnel for ease of hanging.
